Why QueryTo exists

The path from querying to representation is more fragmented than it needs to be.

Authors keep query materials, agent research, and submission history across documents, spreadsheets, and other tools. Agents face the same problem on the other side: queries in one system, client work in another, with rights, deals, notes, and files scattered elsewhere.

QueryTo brings more of that work together, keeping the information connected as a manuscript moves from querying into representation and beyond.

What QueryTo is not trying to do

Software should support judgment, not replace it.

With QueryTo, authors and agents can keep their work organized, keep track of important information, and spend less time on repetitive tasks. The decisions stay with them: what to query, what to request, who to represent, and what comes next.

A founder note

Why I built it

QueryTo started with a problem I kept running into as an author. Every time I queried a manuscript, I ended up back in a spreadsheet—tracking submissions, expected response times, notes, and everything else I needed to remember.

The spreadsheet was only part of it. Agent information lived across agency websites, wish lists, Publishers Marketplace, social media, and other places. I was constantly moving between sources just to get a useful picture of who I was querying and what happened next.

As I started building a better way to manage all of that, I started thinking about what the process looked like for agents too. They were managing hundreds or even thousands of queries, and querying was only one part of their work. Once an author signs with an agent, there are clients and projects to manage, editorial rounds to keep track of, manuscripts to submit to publishers, rights and deals to manage, files to organize, and deadlines to remember.

The idea grew from there: if all of these stages are part of the same journey, why should the work around them live in completely separate systems?
